Who We Are?
Starting more than a decade ago, human resources departments within federal agencies were reorganized, centralized and downsized. Many agencies who previously had a local human resources function joined with other offices within the same agency to consolidate the HR efforts. This was good (less expensive) for the agency, but less good for the individual employee looking for specific advice or direction.
While there are a wide variety of resources available online, often when an employee has a benefits question, they would rather walk down the hall, look someone in human resources in the eye, and ask that question directly.
That is nearly impossible in most agencies today. You’ll hear HR disparaged, however, it is not the HR professional’s fault. They’re simply working in the “new” system that’s evolved since 2011.
Ask-ann exists to accomplish three things – answer individual questions (along with sources), provide retirement benefits estimates, and prepare retirement paperwork, as well as Social Security and Medicare applications.
